So after my record deal and my project Erasmus unfortunately ended, I started to do my own thing again but in 2002 I broke my hand badly. I spent a year or so with pins in the right hand. my wrist was fused and it was looking like I might not be able to play again.

Mattmorphosis was the first project I had recorded after the pins had been removed and I had a few months of physiotherapy. My playing was never the same after the accident and all the albums since 2002 have all been recorded with my right hand in bad condition, but it didn't stop me from trying my best to record and do what I loved.


Recorded this 6 track album with a bonus track back in 2003 and this marked the beginning of my Journey into Planet Epiphany....later moving away from this acoustic style and into heavier and more complex music as my hand slowly healed.

Mattmorphosis was more an album for my vocal sense of humour using silly harmonies that needed a nut cracker between the legs to reach some of the high notes. But I enjoyed making this, especially playing the 12 string guitar and doing the slide solos :)
This was also only my second proper album doing the vocals and I was still trying to learn how to play my characters and pitch my notes.
I have never used auto tune on my vocals preferring to be raw and real in what I could do.


My fav track was the last song I wanna live in space, about an old man living next to a corn field, a little green alien turns up on his door step, tells him Earth sucks as a planet and invites him to go back into space with him :)
